If an employee is required to use their own tools, is employer responsible for loss or damage?

Posted on April 23rd, 2010 by admin

An automotive employee was required to use his personal tools to do his job. The business was burned and all was lost. The business rebuilt with ins. money but told the employees they were out of luck as far as their tools

No. The insurance probably does not cover property of others.

The employee should check their homeowners or renters insurance for coverage.

i am thinking of adding a automotive oscilloscope to my tool box would this be money well spent or not?

How does one custom fit battery cables/ends? What tools are needed?

Posted on April 13th, 2010 by admin

I need extra room in the trunk of my supercharged cobra for a custom container that will hold ice/water for my vortech’s aftercooler. I already have a Taylor battery box in back, but need to reroute the battery cables around to not interfere with the new "ice box" that will sit next to it (4" away from it anyway). Does anyone have any links, writeups, ideas on what tools I can look at on how to custom fit automotive battery cables (how to cut them..how to put adaptors or extensions on, what tools are needed…how to to properly put the end post fittings at the end of the cables..etc..etc.). I am going for a clean install…and want the cables solid since it is both for safety, reliability and looks…

Thanks for any information….

It’s best not to extend them, because you end up with another connection.

You should just get enough wire to route from your battery to the starter/accessories (make sure it is the same gauge as the existing cable). You can buy the fittings from any auto parts store.

The most important thing is to put some conductive grease on the fittings when putting it all together – that keeps corrosion from causing high resistance connections.
