any wrong reason to buy a refurbished factory reconditioned power tool such as Framing nailer?

Prices are nearly 50% lower.
Many of my tools are factory refurbished items. When the tools go down the line and are assembled, they are briefly tested and out the door they go.
I actually prefer a refurbished tool, because I know a technician has repaired and extensively tested the tool. They do NOT want a refurbished tool coming back because that is two strikes against it. I feel the price is always better.

I have had luck buying referbished tools. Be sure to have a guarantee. Most seem to be store returns and not used much.

theres nothing wrong with it, its basically brand new for a good price. just make sure you get the same manufacturer warranty as the new models get

Some brands actually refurbish, and resell, other brands( notably DeWalt) sell tested tools as refurbished…
I prefer to buy new, no surprises that way….

Yes, I agree about getting the warranty same as the new model.
However I bought a compressor once – Looked like new, ran great for about 3 days, then it started seizing up once in awhile. I think it was returned once, and "checked out" by the service department, but they didn’t find any apparant problem – just as I did not until I started using it a lot.
so, again, make sure you get a good warranty.

I own Contractors tool store. We sell dewalt, milwaukee, bosch, porter cable. These tools are known as "Recon" reconditioned. They have same warranty as new, and are offered because some tools are put into a store for display or a demonstrated tool, others are rejected from inspection line for simple things like label missing or misaligned, housing screw missing, loose wire inside. These tools are pulled off line if they have any visual defects or won’t run when tested. They are then known as recon. They are sent to another dept and the problems are fixed. The recon list only comes out 4-5 times a year, if dealers want them- they have to order quickly because they don’t last long. Go for them. Good Deal. Keep your receipt because tools have date code on them, if you loose your receipt warranty is determined by date code, most tools are over 1 year old in recon
