What power tool can cut through really thick steel?

Posted on October 29th, 2009 by admin

I’ve got a really thick steel door I’m trying to install but its too tall so I was wondering what tool is best to cut through it and slim it down.

Go buy the right door.

PETROGEN EATS STEEL! Whether making a precision cut through thin steel or slicing straight through 20 layers of rusted plate, you will always have the best torch for the job. Cutting steel with the PETROGEN torch is like driving a high-performance sports car with horsepower to spare. The powerful flame carries the heat all the way down the cut. It slices through the steel like a hot knife, jumping air gaps, cutting through layers, punching deep holes in seconds. It cuts everything from your thinnest steel up to 14 inches!

A sawzall, or reciprocating saw with a metal cutting blade, or else a 4 1/2″ grinder with a metal cutting blade. Mark both sides before cutting. Cut one side at a time, not the whole door at once.

you may not be able to cut this door, if it is a fire rated steel door they are filled with a retardant material, simmilar to drywall, or it could be an exterior type filled with insulation. but if you still decide to go ahead your hardware store will have a 7 1/4 " circular saw blade which you could cut 2 and a 1/4 inches
